Disclosure: I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
My name is Corey DeStefano and I am the Director of Research at North Jersey Community Research Initiative in Newark, NJ. As Director of Research and Clinical Services at the North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI), I have overseen research studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and clinically funded studies for a number of Pharmaceutical companies for over 20 years. At NJCRI, I oversee and direct programs on clinical and research studies which focus on identifying and responding to the HIV prevention, care and treatment needs for those that are HIV positive, and for those, at risk for HIV and health disparities outcomes. Our populations include adults, young adults and adolescents’ substance users and homeless and LGBTQ populations. The main focus of these programs are recruitment and outreach for infectious disease testing, linkage to and retention in care, and research on prevention and health outcomes. Additionally my research at NJCRI had focused on STI/Hepatitis C care and treatment, STI/Hepatitis C counseling and testing, and behavioral surveillance research. These programs also target substance abuse and mental health screening. As an expert in care and treatment and prevention clinical systems and the issues facing our clients, I provide guidance on policies, procedures, measures, and methods and strategies to capture the hard to reach population as well as provide primary care and prevention services to this vulnerable community.
