Debra J. Lugo is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Duke University. She spends her clinical time on the Pediatric Transplant ID service. She also serves as Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship. Dr Lugo’s research interests include viruses in immunecompromised hosts and donor derived infections. Previously Dr. Lugo held a position with the BIPAI Global Health Corps in Swaziland, working as a clinician treating children living with HIV. Dr Lugo is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles, and completed her MD with Ross University School of Medicine. She trained in Pediatrics at Maimonides Infants and Children's Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She completed her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at UCLA, David Geffen School of Medicine. When not working, she enjoys spending time playing with her children, and hiking in the beautiful North Carolina mountains.
