Samir S. Hanna, MD, MSPH, Medical Epidemiologist, FoodNet Program, Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), Nashville, TN. Dr. Hanna was graduated from Alexandria University School of Medicine, Egypt in 1982. He got a Master Degree in Pediatrics from Alexandria University School of Medicine, Egypt in 1997 and a Master Degree of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College in 2002. He has worked as a pediatrician for over 15 years before joining the TDH in 2002. He has worked with states, CDC, FDA, and other partners in the foodborne disease surveillance and outbreak investigations. He represents TN as a coordinator of the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS) including both human and retail food surveillance. He has participated in many national and international conferences with presentations on foodborne outbreaks and surveillance activities.
