Disclosure: I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
My name is Charles Teixeira DO and I am a second year ID fellow at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston SC. I am originally from Canada but have lived a large part of my adult life in the southeast part of the country. I went to University of Tennessee in Knoxville for my undergraduate education. I then graduated medical school from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine Virginia Campus and completed internal medicine residency at Medical College of Georgia. In fellowship I have developed interests in antimicrobial stewardship, public health, and epidemiology. With the COVID 19 pandemic, my co-fellow and attending mentors thought it would be a great opportunity to evaluate how our institution and state has been affected during the pandemic. We were especially interested in evaluating if there were any particular unique comorbidities or demographics in our institutions that would predispose patients to poor outcomes.
