Lydia Aoun Barakat is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Section of infectious disease at Yale School of Medicine. She is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, and the American Academy of HIV Medicine. She is currently the Director of the Yale Infectious Disease Ambulatory Services, the Medical Director of the Nathan Smith Clinic at Yale New Haven Hospital, the Program Director of the Yale HIV Primary Care Residency Pathway, and the Clinical Director and PI for the New England AIDS Education and Training Center, CT regional partner site.
In addition, she is a member of, the executive board of IDSA/HIVMA, the DHHS/NIH Guidelines review committee, New England AAHIVM Steering Committee, the executive board of the New Haven County Medical Association, and the New Haven Mayer’s Task Force on AIDS. She severed as past - president and member on the executive board for the Connecticut Infectious Disease society.
Lydia Aoun Barakat was awarded and managed several HRSA grants that aim to enhance services and quality of HIV care. Her research interests are HIV and aging and HIV workforce development. She is dedicated to expanding HIV educational platforms and to champion effective initiatives in HIV prevention and treatment that improve the lives of people with HIV.
