Dr. John Wilson is a Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases physician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. His areas of expertise include tuberculosis and non TB mycobacterial infections, infections in patients with cancer, HIV and global health. He leads his Division's Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical practice along with seeing patients with tuberculosis in the County Health Department. He was the director of medical TB consultations for Mayo Clinic as a previous CDC funded tuberculosis Center, and remains active with the CDC, regional tuberculosis consultative centers, State and County Health Departments with TB management and health policies. Dr. Wilson has been active internationally regarding tuberculosis Education in Central America and the Caribbean (with projects in El Salvador, Honduras, Southern Mexico and in Haiti), as well as, within select native American communities within the U.S.. He has been advocate for medical care and Education access among underserved communities - both domestically and internationally. In addition, Dr. Wilson is a panel member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), Infectious Diseases subcommittee (focusing on the management of infections in patients with cancer), and chair of the COVID-19 NCCN management working group. Dr. Wilson also chairs the Mayo Clinic pharmaceutical in formulary committee as well as the in-patient practice of Infectious Diseases at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Wilson completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency in Infectious Diseases fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota.
