I am Founder and Owner of MicrobiType LLC, which since 2014 has developed and evaluated novel strain typing methods for pathogen tracking in food processing and healthcare facilities. These methods have been implemented as affordable, user-friendly services for foodborne pathogens including Salmonella and Listeria and healthcare-associated pathogens including Candida glabrata. Prior to this, I was Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Drexel University College of Medicine, with 28 years hands-on research experience in medical microbiology, molecular biology, and genetics; 80+ publications on subjects ranging from bacteria to protozoa to fungi with emphases on antimicrobials, evolution, and technology development; and extensive experience writing, editing, reviewing, and editing grant applications and manuscripts.
