Krystina Woods is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine, a board certified Internist and Infectious Diseases specialist, and the Hospital Epidemiologist and Medical Director of Infection Prevention at Mount Sinai West. Dr. Woods graduated from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine residency at New York Hospital in Queens. During her residency, she developed a keen interest in infectious diseases. She completed her Infectious Disease fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City. During her fellowship, she became interested in infection prevention and patient safety. Dr. Woods has served as an Infectious Disease fellow for Doximity, curating the site’s relevant literature in Internal Medicine and infectious Diseases. Her interest in patient education led her to become the contributing medical author for a popular website for mothers, where she wrote about various health topics, in particular infectious diseases, vaccines and infection prevention. She has co-authored several publications on the topic of antimicrobial resistance and infection prevention. Her research has been presented at local, national and international Infectious Disease conferences. She is a member of several professional organizations including the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA). Together with her team, she organized the response of Mount Sinai West to the COVID-19 pandemic which reached New York City in March 2020. Currently, she is working on helping her hospital, and local institutions, thoughtfully navigate reopening and living life in the times of COVID-19.
