Miss Ramanathan is a Research Health Scientist with the Center of Innovation for Complex Chronic Healthcare at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois. Miss. Ramanathan is also a PhD Candidate in Epidemiology at the University of Illinois School of Public Health in Chicago, Illinois. Alongside working on her dissertation, she is also a research assistant at the College of Pharmacy at UIC. She has a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Philosophy and a Master’s in Public Health in epidemiology.
Miss Ramanathan has been with the VA for eight year and works as a project manager at the center. She has been involved in projects related to Clostridioides difficile infections, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and multidrug resistant gram-negative organisms. A majority of her work has focused on the individuals with spinal cord injuries and disorders. At UIC, she assists with a study focusing on antibiotic and opioid prescribing by dentists. Her major research interests involve infectious diseases, particularly nosocomial infections, antibiotic-resistant organisms, and antibiotic prescribing and stewardship.
