Andrew Gianos is currently a medical student at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. His current research is within Transplant Infectious Diseases with focus on opportunistic infections in the post-transplant population, for which he received the College of Medicine COVID Research Scholarship. He received his BS in Biological Sciences from Clemson University and worked with Professor Meredith Morris researching metabolic enzyme interaction and trafficking in Trypanosoma brucei. In addition to his research, he is the president of the on-campus organization Discussions in Medical Ethics, which provides a university-wide platform for students to discuss and debate pertinent issues related to medicine and medical ethics.
