Judith Berger, MD, is an infectious disease physician with 35 years of experience in clinical Infectious Disease and HIV practice in New York City. She is the long-time Director, Division of Infectious Diseases at SBH Health System in the Bronx, as well as its Medical Director of Infection Control and Occupational Health Services. Dr. Berger is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Affiliate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Medicine. She completed her medical degree at Mount Sinai Medical School in NYC, her residency at Brookdale Medical center in Brooklyn, NY and her fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Berger has years of experience in overseeing the preparation and protocols for the SBH Health System for the many emerging infections and highly infectious pathogens including most recently Covid-19. In infection control, she has seen success in decreasing CLABSIs, CAUTIs and hospital onset C.difficile. Dr. Berger has been a leader in the Antibiotic Stewardship Program with goals of appropriate use of antibiotics, decreasing antibiotic use, and decreasing duration of antibiotics.
