Jose Alexandre Rodrigues is a 6th D.O.-Ph.D. candidate in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Jose’s thesis work, under the direction of Dr. Shannon Manning Ph.D., M.P.H., describes the molecular epidemiology of C. jejuni infections in Michigan. Utilizing whole genome sequencing and phylogenomic approaches he is investigating antibiotic resistance of C. jejuni an important public health threat. As a future pediatric infectious disease physician-scientist, he is looking to pursue further training through pediatric physician-scientist training programs including postdoctoral experiences studying infectious disease dynamics, utilizing mathematical modeling and phylogenomic analysis.
