Clinical Lecturer / Assistant Professor
University College London
I am an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Infectious Diseases at Univeristy College London. My PhD, funded by Royal College of Physicians and Joint Global Health Trials Scheme (Welcome Trust/MRC UK/Department for International Development) focused on understanding the impact of urine-based diagnostics for TB in HIV-positive patients in Malawi and South Africa. I led a multi-country clinical trial of screening for HIV-associated TB in hospitalised patients, and undertook work to understand immune responses in patients with advanced HIV/TB. I am also involved in projects to understand how HIV drug resistance impacts hospitalised patients in high burden settings. My research interests focus on how diagnostic interventions can improve health outcomes, focussing on HIV and TB, and patients admitted to hospital in low resource countries.
