I am a Physician from the University of Antioquia, in Medellin Colombia. I graduated in 2018 as a Medical doctor and throughout my Medical Education I participated in various research in microbiology and Infectious Diseases. In 2016, I first participated in IDWeek New Orleans, which made me fall in love with translational science in Infectious disease.
In 2019, I became a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at Doctor Cesar Arias Lab, at UTHealth Sciences Center in Houston, McGovern Medical School. As a trainee in Dr. Arias lab, my main interest is in basic and translational sciences. My work is mainly related to Staphylococcus aureus, specially, the molecular basis of the Cefazolin Inoculum effect, the clinical implications of this phenomenon in Clinical practice, and the development of a rapid test for the detection of strains displaying this phenomenon. My goal is to become a physician Scientist in Infectious diseases.
