Nicole M. Poole, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology. She is also Associate Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Dr. Poole obtained her undergraduate degree in neuroscience at the University of Texas, Austin. She obtained her medical degree at the University of Texas School of Medicine and a Masters of Public Health at the University of Texas School of Public Health, in Houston, TX. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Chicago School of Medicine in Chicago, IL and her pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, WA. Upon completing her fellowship, she moved into an attending physician position at Seattle Children’s Hospital prior to joining faculty at the University of Colorado in 2019. Dr. Poole’s research area of interest is antimicrobial stewardship in ambulatory and community settings. Dr. Poole uses epidemiologic and quality improvement research methods to describe antibiotic prescribing patterns, identify targets for improvement, and study interventions to improve the quality of antibiotic use in children. She is particularly interested in socio-behavioral drivers of antibiotic prescribing.
