Joseph A. Kovacs, M.D., is a Senior Investigator in the Critical Care Medicine Department at the US National Institutes of Health. His laboratory research interests focus on better understanding of the basic biology of, and host immune responses to, Pneumocystis. He also has a long-standing interest in evaluating immunotherapy in HIV infection and in the clinical management of Pneumocystis and other opportunistic infections, as well as non-infectious complications of HIV infection.
