Dr. Edwards is Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and an Attending Physician at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Edwards received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, completed pediatric residency and fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Baylor and a research fellowship at the Channing Laboratory of Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Edwards is a member of the Section of Infectious Diseases with practice responsibilities that include inpatient and outpatient consultation in Infectious Diseases, research and teaching. She maintains a longstanding interest in group B streptococcal infections and their prevention through immunization. Currently, she is conducting a clinical trial to evaluate immune responses in response to group B streptococcal bacteremia in adults. She also is committed to increasing knowledge and practices among healthcare providers regarding the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital Chagas disease. Dr. Edwards has authored or co-authored more than 200 articles and book chapters. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Infectious Disease Society of America and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society.
