Marcia Epstein earned her MD from Harvard Medical School and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center . Following residency, she completed a year as chief resident and then went on to do a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Epstein joined the faculty at Northshore University Hospital in 1991 . In 2003 she became the fellowship director for infectious Diseases, a position she held for 14 years. Dr. Epstein has been the Associate Chief of Infectious Diseases since 2006. Dr. Epstein has served as the President of the Long Island Infectious Disease Society, The Infectious Disease Society of New York, and is currently a member of the IDSA Antimicrobial Resistance Committee and the IDSA Advocacy Liason Committee . Dr. Epstein’s areas of interest include Infections in immunocompromised hosts, Cardiovascular infections, Non-tuberculosis Mycobacterium, Antimicrobial Resistance and treatment of Covid -19
