Patty W. Wright, MD is a Professor of Medicine at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, where she was AOA. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Infectious Diseases, both at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After joining the Vanderbilt faculty, she led the development of the Vanderbilt Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and served as its medical director for many years before transitioning to other activities. Her past roles at Vanderbilt include ID Fellowship Program Director and General ID Clinic Medical Director. She currently serves as the Associate Director for Clinical Affairs for the Division of Infectious Diseases. In addition, she works as a Safety Officer in the VUMC Office of Quality, Safety, and Risk Prevention. She also continues to maintain a clinical ID practice with a focus on orthopedic infections.
