Dr. Christine Johnston is an Associate Professor in the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine at University of Washington. She received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Brown University and her medical degree from University of Minnesota. She completed internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at University of Washington, where she also received an MPH degree. Dr. Johnston is the Medical Director of the University of Washington STD Prevention Training Center, which is part of the CDC-funded National Network of STD Clinical Prevention Training Centers (NNPTC). In addition, she is a physician-scientist who performs clinical studies of genital herpes simplex virus infection, focusing on the intersection between viral pathogenesis and host immune responses, with the ultimate goal of developing successful vaccines and medications to prevent and treat HSV infections. Dr. Johnston cares for patients with HIV infection and other infectious diseases in the inpatient and outpatient setting at Harborview Medical Center.
