Dr. Jason Pogue is a clinical professor at The University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. He also serves as an infectious diseases clinical pharmacist at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Pogue received a bachelor degree in Chemistry from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, before obtaining his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He then completed a PGY-1 residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, after which he obtained his PGY-2 ID training at the University of Michigan Health Systems. After residency training Dr. Pogue spent a decade as an infectious diseases clinical pharmacist at Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI where he co-chaired the antimicrobial stewardship program and led many stewardship initiatives throughout the Detroit Medical Center. His research interests focus on epidemiology and treatment of multi-drug resistant Gram-negative organisms and antimicrobial stewardship and he has co-authored over 100 peer reviewed articles and multiple book chapters in these areas. Dr. Pogue is the president of The Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists and an active member of the United States Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (USCAST) where he has been intimately involved in breakpoint determinations for the polymyxins and aminoglycosides.
