Ilan Schwartz is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. He is a clinician-researcher with primary interests in immunocompromised hosts, solid organ transplantation, invasive fungal disease, and global health. He trained in ID at the University of Manitoba, obtained a Doctorate in Medical Sciences (PhD) from University of Antwerp for research on a novel dimorphic fungal disease in South Africa, and trained in clinical mycology at the San Antonio Center for Medical Mycology. He is active on Twitter under the handle @GermHunterMD, and is a co-founder of #IDJClub, a Twitter-based journal club for infectious diseases.
