Dr. Paula Stigler Granados is an Assistant Professor in the School of Health Administration at Texas State University. She received her PhD in Global Health in the joint doctoral program with San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego. Her main area of interest is Chagas disease in the United States and how best to increase awareness of this neglected disease. Dr. Stigler Granados has led the Texas Chagas Taskforce for the last 5 years and has several on-going Chagas related projects. She is currently working on a CDC funded cooperative agreement to raise awareness among healthcare providers in the U.S. about Chagas disease and is utilizing the ECHO model of tele-mentoring to provide Chagas disease learning opportunities for physicians and community health workers. Other projects include screening for Chagas disease on college campuses, conducting triatomine surveillance at military installations along the U.S. Mexico border region and a pilot newborn screening project in Texas. She is an active participant in state, national and international Chagas disease working groups and an advocate for Chagas patients across the U.S.
