Dr. Ronald J Teufel II is a Professor, at the Medical University of South Carolina in the Departments of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. He has completed a Master of Science in Clinical Research in conjunction with a fellowship in Health Service Research. He is an Associate Editor for the journal Hospital Pediatrics. His research goal is to incorporate aspects of health services research with clinical research projects to ensure novel and innovative approaches and offer the best opportunity to improve outcomes for children.
Dr. Teufel has worked with an experienced team of programmers and developers to create the Smartphone Asthma Management Systems (SAMS) to monitor and intervene on children at risk for negative outcomes from asthma. Their team science approach has been successful in competing for funding from local, regional, and national sources to progress from prototype development to NIH grant submissions.
