The US is facing an opioid misuse epidemic. It also is a growing problem in pediatrics. Integrative approaches to pain offer nonpharmacological, evidence-based options that can be utilized in an acute care setting, where opioids often are the first-line treatment. Emerging evidence on the benefits of auricular acupuncture will be discussed.
