Committee/Organizing Meeting
Hosted by: American Anthropological Association
The national recognition that relationships between police and the communities they serve have broken down has resulted in the employment of mental health professionals and social workers. While these professionals provide important expertise, it is anthropologists and our activist colleagues who carry the expertise of the lived experience of community members that can potentially transform police interaction. This session draws together anthropologists with expertise in race with community activists to address the issues and establish a platform for direct engagement with police and our communities.
