(5-0590) Gallery Session: Sexually Transmitted Disease Risk Amongst Community College Students in the Los Angeles Area

In 2016, California Public Health officials cite the dramatic incidence rate increase of sexually transmitted diseases in young adults (CDPH 2016). Disparities in these occurrences are persisting particularly with those <30 years (2016). In the LA area, STD rates increased over 20%, in some cases (CDPH 2016). In this study, 500 students responded to a mixed methods survey that aimed to assess their knowledge of risk for contracting a sexually transmitted diseases and/or infections. Health disparities, such as socioeconomic status, are identified as contributing factors.
