(5-0155) Mentoring Session: Publishing Your First Book

Publishing the first book monograph is often essential for junior scholars working towards tenure. In this panel we bring together three author/editor pairs (Chicago, Cornell, Stanford Press) who will speak concretely about how their first books came into production. This panel will provide guidance on the nuts and bolts of going from proposal to bookshelf: transforming a dissertation to book manuscript, writing an effective prospectus, knowing when it’s time to make contact with acquisition editors, finding the right publisher, and understanding the peer review and board processes.
