We propose a series of three hands-on workshops and a closing roundtable discussion focused on methodologies of photoethnography and the current state of the genre. Each 2-hour workshop will feature three practitioners discussing their experience and will involve some participation from those attending the workshop. The roundtable will be structured as an informal and participatory conversation between the 9 workshop practitioners and the audience, talking about the current state of photoethnography.
In this third, workshop participants will discuss how they think about the aesthetics of their photography pre- and post-shooting. They will talk about camera and film choice, the use of editing software like Lightroom, how they think about incorporating images in book designs and installations, and their approaches and perspectives on photo essays.
