Offsite - San Jose's Historic Japantown
From Civic Center, take the Lightrail to Japantown/Ayer Station: 683 N 4th St, San Jose, CA 95112
This event features an off-site walking tour of San Jose's historic Japantown, one of the last 3 remaining Japantowns in the US and affected by the 1942 Japanese American internment of World War II. Today, a museum, public art and memorials, historic and contemporary businesses and residences compose the multi-ethnic community of approximately San Jose Japantown is a multi-ethnic community. The walks are led by multi-generational residents who will give personal, storied, and/or artful tours about their experiences with the town. This event will be of interest to those who engage research methods pertaining to community education, place, and story.
